Gary Benson and the team at the Sports Therapy Association (STA) bring us up to date with what’s been happening over the last few months.
The STA recently attended TherapyExpo18 and held our 3rd Annual conference. We were very lucky to attract eight high profile speakers delivering sessions ranging from ‘the do’s and don’ts of becoming a successful therapist’ and ‘S&C for MMA athletes’, to ‘understanding the role of the nerves in rehab’. All of the sessions were extremely well received and we are currently developing our website to enable STA members to access audio content from the conference. This exciting addition will also benefit those members who seek to use our online CPD provision.
TherapyExpo provides STA with multiple benefits, not least the opportunity to meet our members and discuss their aspirations for STA policy in the coming year. Additionally, we spend time building quality relationships with education and equipment providers – one of the highlights of this networking resulted in detailed discussions with a very large Health Insurance company who approached us to discuss the possibility of forming a working relationship to allow their clients to access Sports Therapy and Sports Massage treatments as part of their health benefits scheme. We are working behind the scenes to meet their objectives and hope to have more information by mid 2019.
If you would like to attend TherapyExpo 2019 you can find full details here.
A growing number of universities and colleges are meeting with STA to enquire about our Accreditation Scheme and to discuss how they can become involved in delivering and issuing Industry Awards as part of their BSc and FdSc programmes, which have been developed in our working relationship with PD:Approval. Another exciting development has been the launch of the STA Endorsement Scheme which recognises and classifies continuing professional development (CPD) opportunities for STA members.
We would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a prosperous and healthy 2019.
